Sea Shell Mask Preparation

To make the mask at home, in addition to a few seashells, it is necessary to use lemon.

We have three ways of preparing the mixture. All of them are equally effective and you can choose the one that best suits you.

Grind the seashell

The first alternative is using a mortar as a tool, and a container to store the seashell powder.

To begin, grind the mother-of-pearl shells pulverizing it in the mortar, as thin as possible.  It is preferable to grind the seashells one by one.

Once finished, store the powder in a clean, dry glass container with lid. To make the mask you will only have to add the lemon juice on the mother-of-pearl shell powder and mix. As simple as it seems.

However, it is recommended that you prepare the amount that you will use in the short term. You can even prepare only the quantity required for a single application, reserving the sea shell powder for future uses.

Dissolve the seashells with lemon

The second alternative, is used in case you do not have a mortar or you find it difficult to grind the shells. For this, you must squeeze the lemon to obtain its juice, in an amount sufficiently necessary to cover the seashells inside the glass. (Use 4 seashells if they have the size of almonds, and 2, if they have size of nutmeg).

Then, cover the glass with a plastic film and on it, additionally cover with a cloth. Let it sit in a dark and fresh place for 3 days.

On the third day you will see that the sea shells have partially broken down with lemon juice. The paste resulting from this process is what you should use for your mask.

The leftover mixture, keep it in the glass container for future applications. Repeat the process to create a new mixture.

Fill the seashell with lemon

The third alternative is for sea shells that are XL size, so to speak.  For example, in the case of a large oyster.

Squeeze the lemon juice needed to put inside the seashell and fill  ¾ parts with it.

You must leave the shell in a pot to facilitate its transfer and avoid spillage. Then, put the shell with its lemon content and without covering it, in a place that does not receive direct sun light. At night you can leave it outdoors for the lemon acid reaction to be more optimal.

When 24 hours have passed you will see that part of the shell has dissolved with lemon. Remove this mixture and use it for your mask. The remaining content can be reserved in the glass container for next applications.

Once your mix is finished, repeat the process, until the shell has been drilled after constant extraction.

Mother of pearl sea shell mask can be used daily, until you are satisfied with the results.

In case you choose the mortar alternative to make the sea shell mask, and you have the powder stored, you can prepare the mixture using milk instead of lemon.
